I had a full weekend ( Birthday’s, wedding, football etc) so I’m a little late on my fashion week coverage, but much like I did for Copenhagen’s fashion week I’ll just be highlighting some of my favorites.
Hervé Léger by Max AzriaEither you love it or you hate it, but the bandage dress is definitely an impact statement dress. One which I personally love, and the Spring 09 line will not disappoint. SS09 brings some change to the bandage dress with more details in the straps, some funky geometrics, and a nod to bondage, mod and of course glamour that are sure to grab even more attention.
William RastI can’t deny I love the jeans ( even though I think there over priced) and I’m glad Trace, and Justin decided to bring in Johan and Marcella Lindeberg to expand the line past denim. Although I have to say the line was kept pretty basic with some wonderful casual tops for the most part there were a few surprises like some fringe and lace dresses. Overall the line was still just a jean line with some extras thrown in. The men’s line however was fantastic and I would want any guy I know to wear it. I look forward to seeing how the group improves next year
PreenI loved the voluminous looks that moved down the runway in wonderful white, and some really funky metallic light weight denim. The look overall was very laid back, but had an edgy vibehat didn’t seem too hard for the average fashionista to pull off. Preen also played with mixing fabrics like suede, lace, and silk which made for some surprisingly heavenly combination.
AbaetéI absolutely love this lines strong use of colors place every so perfectly. The highly structured fit reminisant of a Hervé Léger and the color blocking which seems to be a trademark.
Karen WalkerWonderful neutrals, chambray, light fabrics and forgiving cuts ruled this Aussies runway. This was one of the few lines that I could see any women being able to wear. The pieces were simple and classic and could be mixed and matched with what you already have in your wardrobe.
RuffianFirst off loved the shoes on all these ladies and whoever styled this show deserves a second round of applause. The over all looks was very Bohemian, every look had you either recalling the late 60’s or wishing you were alive then. This look was defiantly for the fashion risk taker, I could see Micha Barton wearing every piece in this line. I loved how the denim was mixed with beautiful color dipped fabrics. Oh and with a name like Ruffian you know they had to throw in a little funk with some wonderful crushed velvet and brocade for spring!
