B.A. Style "Steal" of the Day: Exposed Zipper Sweater Dress

My dreams of having a Hervé Leger dress (average cost 900 dollars) are still just a dream. There have been many companies that have made their version of the famous “bodycon” dress Topshop, Bebe, Gap, and now Forever 21 with the best rendition yet. Forever 21’s Exposed Zipper Sweater Dress is simply fantastic it has the curve hugging style, the banding and unique straps that are signatures to the iconic original. I’m even thinking of getting two and getting one cut shorter (knee length) so that I can have two great dresses. While the dress lacks the sheen ( it’s a duller sweater like material) of an Hervé Leger it’s still looks like it’s worth much much more than it’s 34 buck price tag. Happy Shopping!

B.A. Style "Steal" of the Day: Strapless Knit Dress

I'm a fan of the Hervé Leger Bandage dress; to be honest I’m kind of obsessed with owning one. I am also a fan of eating, having a roof over my head, you know those pesky necessities. Well Gap has actually come to my fashion rescue with its Strapless knit dress aka “Gap Bandage Dress” at a price point I can afford. Now there is a slight discrepancy with the online price of 37.99 and the price I paid in store 18.99 either way though it’s a steal! The Gap describes this dress as “Simple and sexy -- and somehow just right. With it's close fit, satin piping, and darts in just the right places, this one is sure to be a scene-stealer.” And that is exactly how I feel about this perfect LBD that is sure to have women sneering and men drooling!
P.S. this picture really does the dress no justice, you have to see it in person.

New York Fashion Week SS09: 9/7 and 9/8

I had a full weekend ( Birthday’s, wedding, football etc) so I’m a little late on my fashion week coverage, but much like I did for Copenhagen’s fashion week I’ll just be highlighting some of my favorites.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria

Either you love it or you hate it, but the bandage dress is definitely an impact statement dress. One which I personally love, and the Spring 09 line will not disappoint. SS09 brings some change to the bandage dress with more details in the straps, some funky geometrics, and a nod to bondage, mod and of course glamour that are sure to grab even more attention.

William Rast

I can’t deny I love the jeans ( even though I think there over priced) and I’m glad Trace, and Justin decided to bring in Johan and Marcella Lindeberg to expand the line past denim. Although I have to say the line was kept pretty basic with some wonderful casual tops for the most part there were a few surprises like some fringe and lace dresses. Overall the line was still just a jean line with some extras thrown in. The men’s line however was fantastic and I would want any guy I know to wear it. I look forward to seeing how the group improves next year

Preen

I loved the voluminous looks that moved down the runway in wonderful white, and some really funky metallic light weight denim. The look overall was very laid back, but had an edgy vibehat didn’t seem too hard for the average fashionista to pull off. Preen also played with mixing fabrics like suede, lace, and silk which made for some surprisingly heavenly combination.

Abaeté

I absolutely love this lines strong use of colors place every so perfectly. The highly structured fit reminisant of a Hervé Léger and the color blocking which seems to be a trademark.

Karen Walker

Wonderful neutrals, chambray, light fabrics and forgiving cuts ruled this Aussies runway. This was one of the few lines that I could see any women being able to wear. The pieces were simple and classic and could be mixed and matched with what you already have in your wardrobe.

Ruffian
First off loved the shoes on all these ladies and whoever styled this show deserves a second round of applause. The over all looks was very Bohemian, every look had you either recalling the late 60’s or wishing you were alive then. This look was defiantly for the fashion risk taker, I could see Micha Barton wearing every piece in this line. I loved how the denim was mixed with beautiful color dipped fabrics. Oh and with a name like Ruffian you know they had to throw in a little funk with some wonderful crushed velvet and brocade for spring!

One Shoulder Sequin Stripe Sweater by Francine - $273.00 @ Maneaterthreads.com

Seeing that the original dress 1217 dollars more than my inspired piece I say we are on the right track. Yes, it’s not a bandage dress, but the color and on shoulder thing is really on track and since the one I picked is a sweater material it’s great for fall! I didn’t like her shoes, so I didn’t add them to my look.

If you want outfits similar to one you've seen on a "celeb" email me a picture and I'll do my best to find it and will feature it in a future post. bayareastylefile@gmail.com
